Add Ability to Filter Mobile Roaming Clients Separately in DNSFilter Query Log

An enhancement to the DNSFilter Query Log that would allow administrators to filter and view traffic from Mobile Roaming Clients (iOS/Android) separately from standard Roaming Clients (Windows/macOS). Currently, all roaming client traffic is grouped together, making it difficult to isolate and troubleshoot issues specific to mobile devices.
Current Challenge:
Admins cannot distinguish mobile device traffic from desktop/laptop roaming client traffic within the Query Log. Troubleshooting mobile-specific connection or filtering issues is more difficult without device type visibility. Reporting on mobile-specific usage is challenging for environments with mixed device deployments.
Requested Enhancement:
Introduce an additional filter or tag in the DNS Query Log that allows customers to select and view Mobile Roaming Client traffic independently. Ideally, this would allow filtering by device type (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android) or a clear separation between Mobile and Desktop Clients. Display the device platform in the log entries for quick reference.
Impact:
Easier troubleshooting of mobile-specific connectivity issues. Improved reporting and tracking for mixed-deployment MSPs and enterprise customers. Greater administrative efficiency for customers managing environments with growing mobile footprints.

Appreciate the detailed request! We’re not planning to add separate filtering for Mobile Roaming Clients right now, but we do have some upcoming work that should help with the visibility and troubleshooting challenges you described. Thanks for outlining the use case — it’s great input as we look at improving how device data is displayed.
