Change Enforce SafeSearch to Allow SafeSearch

Tobias ([email protected]) from AnyKey reached out suggesting that the current wording for SafeSearch can cause some confusion and recommend changing the wording from:
Enforce Google SafeSearch
to
Allow Google With SafeSearch
Minetta Gould
Thanks, Tobias! Totally get why this one’s confusing—you’re not alone! We’ve looped in our UX team to help make this setup clearer in the product.
For now, here’s a little more detail on how it works today:
- Block all search engines not supporting SafeSearchblocks search engines that don’t have SafeSearch—it doesn’t automatically turn SafeSearch on for supported ones.
- Each Enforce SafeSearchtoggle does exactly that for users on the policy, no browser tweaking required.
Being nested under the
block all
toggle does make them seem more intertwined than they are, so good on you for the suggestion. I’ll update this post once the UX work heads over to engineering!Tobias Linder
Minetta Gould thank you for your answer. I'm happy to hear that you agree that it's confusing.
The sentence in your description "blocks search engines that don’t have SafeSearch" also is not completely clear to me. Does this mean that I could also use yandex with safe search by tweaking my local network instead of using the "enforce safesearch" toggle?
