Improved Block Page Bypass
Eric Nix
Development at DNSFilter seems to have slowed for functionality. This is now 6 years old and still hasn't been implemented.

We need to be able to temporarily grant access to a blocked page. This is a real business requirements in our case. Note that we are using the roaming client. Having already 80+ votes is is more than enough to seriously consider this feature request. There are plenty of feature requests with less votes that have been implemented so far. So please add it to your road map.

The block page bypass is an extremely important feature not to have. This is causes me to have to add domains, one at a time, to the Allow List becasue your categories are blocking more and more sites. E.g. I have the shopping sites blocked, but by doing so it is blocking sites like https://www.protectionrt.com/, which I don't consider to be shopping
You really need to bring this feature back
Jacob
any progress on this?
Mikey @DNSFilter
Hi Jacob, unfortunately there's not much movement on these requests currently. While I have you, do you agree that the improved functionality mentioned by Ken (multiple codes, expiration times, limited bypass access) are adequate for your needs?
Jacob
Mikey @DNSFilter: I'd be interested in seeing it work better overall? We're a unique case in that we're a library and have to allow people to bypass the filter while maintaining compliance.
In its current state, it is unusable.
Bypassing the page causes the site to cannot work properly. This now means the only remedy we have to allow a patron to bypass is to log into the DNSFilter site and change it to a zone that's disabled.
That also means - unless I want to handle all the requests myself - I have to allow my front-line staff access to the DNSFilter site on top of hoping I can teach them how to change the policy on an individual site client. This will almost certainly lead to many instances where then then forget to put the filter back on.
Nightmare.
Some other solutions we're considering allow timed bypass, rotating passwords, codes based on content.
Mikey @DNSFilter
Jacob: I see what is happening. The bypass is only applied to the root url x**x.com (from your example) but the missing images are served from a different domain classified as adult but not bypassed. Can you provide another example that is safe for work?
Jacob
Mikey @DNSFilter: Trying to find some more examples but I honestly don't have the time. I also think it is pretty fair example in this instance.
In searching, however, I did find three more sites that had no functionality after being switched from block to unblocked:
craigslist - lands on blank
scrolller - downloads strange .gz file (yikes)
twitter - this is one of the most popular sites on the internet
Please let me know if you want to provide us free access and I'll help you find lots more.
Mikey @DNSFilter
Jacob: those are great examples I can use to research further, thank you for the extra effort. We are exploring concepts that will improve the usability of the bypass block. Not much to say at the moment but I'll update this thread when new information becomes available.

Mikey @DNSFilter: Having this issue with craiglist for a client and see this comment was from 2 years ago already. Has there been any movements on bypass passwords/updates?
Steve Staden
Ellie Szablewski: Right now there hasn't been any movement on this as we're focused on other priorities here - https://dnsfilter.canny.io/. That said, if you're open to it, would be great to discuss with you further on this item. I'll send you an email invite.

Any news to this feature request?

Has Any Progress been made in regards to this feature request ?

Can this same functionality be applied even as a short-term when a site is categorized on the fly... the entire close the browser/use a different browser isn't really that convenient. Even if it's just proxied long enough for the original record to expire and flush everywhere.

The ability to receive a email alert or perhaps a popup notification within my mobile app and immediately approve the blocked url to the Agents Policy etc ( i already configured this myself a few years ago using the redirect page but the issue is that the redirect page does not contain the Category ,policy, roaming agent or the url so it makes it more difficult id be happy to show you what I implemented )
