I am writing to formally request the addition of advanced content filtering features that go beyond current SafeSearch or standard content filters. While SafeSearch and similar controls help reduce exposure to some harmful material, we are finding that students can still access disturbing or inappropriate images and information — particularly related to guns, violence, and adult content — through both Google Images and Safari, even when all available filtering options are enabled. Problem: Despite SafeSearch being active across student devices: Students are still able to search for and view images of firearms, weaponry, and violent scenes. This poses a significant safety and mental health concern for our students, particularly in elementary and middle school settings. Feature Request: We would greatly benefit from a new or enhanced feature that allows administrators to custom-block content by category or topic, specifically: 🔒 Gun- and weapon-related imagery and search results 🔒 Content promoting or depicting violence Suggested Capabilities: Image-specific filtering with the option to block thumbnails Keyword or topic blocking (e.g., “guns,” “shooting,” “weapons,” etc.) We believe this functionality is essential for maintaining a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment and ask that your team consider prioritizing it in future updates or product offerings.
